Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin’s Scream was a big-ass success at the box office earlier this year, raking in $140 million at the worldwide box office and inspiring Paramount to put a sequel into production more or less immediately.
That film, the not-quite-officially-titled Scream 6, will move the action away from Woodsboro to New York City … and according to star Jenna Ortega, it’ll also deliver some classic Scream chase sequences.
Here she is now, saying as much!

Maybe you’re screwing around on your phone in an important work meeting and can’t watch that video right now. Don’t worry – I’ve prepared a transcription of Ortega’s tease below:
“Scream 6 I’m so, so excited about because there’s a lot of chase sequences. It’s sort of reminiscent of Scream 2, where there’s a chase between Gale and Ghostface through the lab. I feel like we have a lot of stuff like that in the next one.”
The chase sequence is, of course, a hallmark of the Scream franchise, but maybe you felt that the previous Scream was deficient on the chase sequence front. If so, it sounds like Scream 6 will be rectifying that! Truth be told, we’re just happy to hear that Ghostface is gonna be getting his steps in; it’s really important to stay in shape if you’re gonna be a slasher.
Stay tuned for more on Scream 6 as further updates become available. You just know we’re all over this one.
