According to a new report over at Deadline, V/H/S/85 and Wrong Turn (2021) director Mike P. Nelson has lined up his next feature film, and from the cast to the concept it sounds like it’s gonna be a doozy.
Called Titan, the film will star Happy Death Day‘s Jessica Rothe and Fear Street‘s Kiana Madeira. What’s it about? We’re glad you asked. Take it away, Deadline:
“Titan is set against the backdrop of Brazilโs Curuรงรก River in the present day. When a team of young doctors embark on a local humanitarian mission through the Amazon rainforest, it soon becomes clear that not everyone โ or everything โ is happy to see them. Their arrival draws the attention of an ancient predator, the ‘Boiรบna.’ This ancient killer, dominant on land and water, clashes to reclaim the jungle. The ensuing fight for survival blurs the roles of hunter, prey, and hero.”
As anyone who’s seen Nelson’s Wrong Turn can tell you, this is a director who knows his way around rough terrain and things lurking in the forest (Nelson’s also responsible for V/H/S/85‘s wildest segment, a two-parter that begins with a group of friends being murdered via sniper rifle on a boat before looping back a few segments later to become something else entirely), and we’re very excited to hear that he’ll be bringing that particular set of skills to bear on a horror film set in the rainforest.
We’re also thrilled to hear that Rothe and Madeira are involved here. Presumably they’ll be playing two of the young doctors on Titan‘s ill-fated humanitarian mission, but maybe not. Maybe one of them’s playing the “Boiรบna.” You don’t know.
Deadline’s report mentions that further casting decisions are being made as we speak. Stay tuned for further updates on Titan as they become available.
