A couple of true horror icons are being honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame Selection Panel of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce have announced the class of 2025, with Halloween director John Carpenter and Freddy Kreuger himself Robert Englund amongst those selected by the committee. In both cases, these feel long overdue but this is most certainly a better late than never situation.ย
Woke up this morning (cue Sopranos theme) (just joking) to discover Iโm in great company in the Hollywood Walk of Fame class of 2025. Just to hear my name mentioned alongside Jane Fonda and Prince makes my old heart go pit-a-pat! โฆ@WalkofFameStarโฉ #walkoffame pic.twitter.com/hBrHys1kPb

Just to hear my name mentioned alongside Jane Fonda and Prince makes my old heart go pit-a-pat!โ Englund, star of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, said on Twitter in response to the news.ย
Carpenter had an on-brand response to the news saying on Twitter, โStar on The Hollywood walk of fame?? There must be some mistake.โ But itโs no mistake. The horror master is indeed getting his due. Peter Roth, chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, had this to say about it:ย
โThe Walk of Fame has made history again! As Chairman of the Walk of Fame Selection Committee, I am thrilled to announce the distinguished honorees who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in the Class of 2025. Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields. The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!โย
Carpenter is one of the most influential directors in the history of horror. From creating one of the most beloved slashers of all time with Halloween to crafting perhaps the greatest creature feature in history with The Thing, his impact on the genre is practically immeasurable. Carpenter hasnโt directed a film since 2010โs The Ward, though he has flirted with the idea in recent years. In any event, his body of work is well worth immortalizing.ย
As for Englund, he cemented himself in cinema history when he graced the screen as Freddy Kreuger in Wes Cravenโs 1984 classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. Englund reprised the role a number of times over the years before retiring the sweater and claws after the 2003 showdown Freddy vs. Jason. In the years since, Englund has built upon his legacy in the genre starring in shows like Stranger Things and movies such as Lake Placid vs. Anaconda.ย
No dates are set for John Carpenter or Robert Englundโs star ceremonies, but stay tuned. For more, be sure to check out our list of Carpenters most influential movies.ย
