Deadline have announced today that John Cho (Star Trek) and Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts series) will star in Sony-Blumhouse-Depth of Field’s upcoming horror They Listen, which is set for a theatrical release of August 25, 2023 (notably, the only wide release that weekend).
The upcoming horror will mark the tenth collaboration between Cho and Oscar-nominated director Chris Weitz (About a Boy). Weitz will also produce the movie alongside Jason Blum and Andrew Miano (The Farewell). Bea Sequeira (The Invisible Man), Dan Balgoyen (Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant) and Britta Rowings (Crush) will executive produce.
Cho is no stranger to the genre game, with his 2018 thriller Searching grossing north of $75million worldwide off production cost of less than one million. He also starred in 2020’s American reboot of The Grudge, Fox’s The Exorcist series and Fox’s Sleepy Hollow series. Katherine Waterston has also dabbled in the horror genre with 2017’s Alien: Covenant.
Plot details for They Listen are still under wraps so make sure you look out (and listen) for any updates as they come!
