Jurassic World: Chaos Theory - Netflix

Netflix has released a new full-length trailer for the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory. First announced late last year, this brand new show picks up years after the conclusion of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, which ended its five-season run in late 2022. Now, Darius and (most) of the rest of the gang are back for much more dinosaur action far removed from Isla Nublar. Is it a show aimed at kids? Yes. That said, they arenโ€™t pulling any punches with the dinos here. Check it out for yourself.ย

The trailer opens with a pretty big bombshell reveal for those who watched Camp Cretaceous. Said reveal ends up leading us into this new adventure with the remaining characters from the previous series, who are all grown up now. There is a big mystery at the center of it all, not to mention quite a bit of dino action. It also seems like the show is going to be expanding upon the idea of training raptors, which was introduced in 2015โ€™s Jurassic World. The official synopsis for the series reads as follows:ย

โ€œSet six years after the events at Camp Cretaceous, members of โ€˜The Nublar Sixโ€™ are struggling to find their footing off the islands, navigating a world now filled with dinosaurs and people who want to hurt them.ย  Reunited in the wake of a tragedy, the group comes together only to find themselves on the run and catapulted into a global adventure to unravel a conspiracy that threatens dinosaur and humankind alike and finally learn the truth about what happened to one of their own.โ€ย

The cast includes Paul-Mikel Williams as Darius, Sean Giambrone as Ben, Darren Barnet as Kenji, Raini Rodriguez as Sammy and Kausar Mohammed as Yasmina. Unfortunately, it looks like Jenna Ortega wonโ€™t be back as Brooklynn in light of what we learn about her character in the trailer. Also, Ortega is busy making big movies like Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, as well as shows like Wednesday season 2.ย

Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley serve as showrunners and executive producers of the series. Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Frank Marshall are also on board as executive producers. The first season of the show consists of ten episodes. Whether this is a one-and-done or will run for multiple seasons like Camp Cretaceous remains to be seen. But it feels like a safe bet that Netflix and Universal will want to keep this partnership going.ย

Elsewhere in the franchise, Universal Pictures is currently gearing up for a new Jurassic World movie as well. Little is known about it, but the film has locked down a summer 2025 release date, with Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, The Creator) in the directorโ€™s chair. There will be no shortage of dinosaur goodness coming our way over the next year, it seems.ย

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory drops May 24 on Netflix.ย
