Kate Siegel, known best for her roles in projects within the Mike Flanagan universe such as The Haunting of Hill House and The Fall of the House of Usher, has lined up her next gig. Not only is Siegel due to star in a new horror/comedy called Damned If You Do, but this is the first time that she will act as an executive producer on a project as well.ย
According to Deadline, production is already underway on the film, which will star Siegel in the lead role. It serves as the directorial debut of Jake Rubin and Evan Metzold, with a script by Ellen Adair and Eric Gilde. Objectively Good Media is behind the film, with Matthew R. Cooper, Lior Haas and Uwakokunre (Kokie) Imasogie on board as producers. Rubin and Metzold are also serving as executive producers alongside Siegel. So, whatโs this one about? The synopsis reads as follows:ย
โThe film follows a group of teenage friends who sold their souls to the devil. Naturally, life grants them different paths: a rock star, a tech mogul, and a high-profile activist. Years later, they must rely on an old classmate to try and escape Hellโs grasp before the contractโs deadline of their 25th high school reunion.โ
Siegel has been a mainstay of the horror genre for over a decade now, dating back to 2013โs Oculus and 2016โs Hush, which she starred in and wrote. Coincidentally, it was recently confirmed that Shout! Studios is finally releasing Hush on digital platforms, making it available for the first time since it left Netflix. Some of Siegelโs other credits include Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Bly Manor and The Wrath of Becky. Rubin and Metzold had this to say about the film:ย
โWe feel very lucky to be working with such a talented and hilarious cast. They make our job easy and bring a wealth of experience to the table that has helped to elevate an already spectacular script. Between our incredible cast and crew, we have formed a remarkable team that truly feels like family, and we are excited to collaborate with this group on our debut feature.โ
While Siegel is known primarily as an actress, particularly her collaborations with Flanagan, who happens to be her husband, she has been branching out more as of late. Not only is she putting her producerโs hat on for this movie, but it was also recently announced that Siegel will be directing a segment in this yearโs V/H/S Beyond, which is due to arrive in October. Siegel continues to carve out her stake in the modern horror landscape, to be certain.ย
Damned If You Do does not currently have a release date. For more, be sure to check out our original interview with Siegel for the release of Hush.ย
