For a while now, we’ve been keeping an eye on Team17’s Killer Frequency, a brand-new horror game with a set-up quite unlike any other. Set in the 1980’s, the title finds players taking on the role of Forrest Nash, a late night radio DJ who hosts a show called The Scream. One night, a series of calls reveals that the small town where Nash broadcasts from is being menaced by a masked slasher known as The Whistling Man, and your job is to prevent them from being killed … all while never stepping foot out of your radio station.

Players accomplish that via any number of methods, from solving environmental puzzles in-studio to reveal pertinent information to terrified callers to guiding said callers through their encounters with the Whistling Man, and the whole thing just looks great: the ’80s aesthetic, the extensively detailed radio station, and the game’s unique format have all conspired to make Killer Frequency one of our most highly anticipated titles of the year, and today it’s finally available to purchase!

Here’s the game’s launch trailer, if you’d like to see what this looks like in action:

Looks pretty cool, right? Well, we have plenty of good news for you: assuming you have Steam, a PlayStation 5, an Xbox Series, a PlayStation 4, an Xbox One, and/or a Nintendo Switch, you can purchase Killer Frequency today. Will you be able to stop The Whistling Man from taking out the entire town of Gallows Creek (unfortunate name, that)? Will your meddling cause The Whistling Man to pay you a visit himself? Exactly what genre of ’80s tunes do you think you’ll spin on the game’s jukebox? Who is under that mask, anyway?

We can’t wait to find out. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? You’re on pause. We have a DJ shift down at the station this evening, and need to prepare.
