Here’s some possibly unexpected news to start your week off with: Kim Kardashian is set to star in the latest instalment of the American Horror Story franchise, alongside series alum Emma Roberts (Coven, Freak Show, 1984). The twelfth entry into Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s anthology horror series, entitled American Horror Story: Delicate will premiere later this year from writer/showrunner Halley Feiffer (Deadbeat, Mildred Pierce).

In an exclusive, The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that Delicate is based
at least in part, on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition. Out in August from Sourcebooks Landmark, the novel is described as a gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens. A cover blurb from author Andrea Bartz describes Delicate Condition as “the feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby we all needed.”
Aside from the infamous reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians which ended in 2021, the socialite superstar has a number of television credits in her filmography (mostly starring as herself) but this will be her first foray into the world of horror.
Emma Roberts, on the other hand, is a bondafide Scream Queen with genre credits in The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Scream 4 and the upcoming The Astronaut in which she’ll star alongside Laurence Fishburne. Speaking to THR, Ryan Murphy had this to say about the pair’s casting:
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family…Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
Well, the news might be unexpected but it’s definitely exciting – we’re particularly intrigued to see what artistic direction the infamous opening credits go in. Look out for updates on American Horror Story: Delicate as we get them!
