Following about a year’s worth of heavily-hyped film festival screenings, Colin and Cameron Cairnes’ Late Night with the Devil finally landed in theaters last weekend, where it immediately generated $2.8M (IFC Films’ biggest opening ever, don’tcha know), a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and, yes, a bit of controversy (thanks to the film’s use of a few AI-generated images).
The film presents itself as a lost, late night TV broadcast from the ’70s, one wherein Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian), the host of a show called Night Owls, finds himself in way over his head when a series of sinister happenings occur live, on the air, and in front of his increasingly horrified studio audience. Long story short, if you were a fan of Ghostwatch (1982) or the WNUF Halloween Special (2013), this one’ll likely be right up your alley.
So, here’s the news: according to our friends over at Bloody Disgusting, Late Night with the Devil will hit Shudder on April 19th, just under a month after its arrival in theaters. We’d been wondering when Late Night would pop up over there, and now we know.
Nothing further to report on Late Night with the Devil at this time, but do stay tuned for any further updates that might roll in between now and the film’s April 19th arrival on Shudder.
