Continuing their excellent Longlegs marketing campaign (which has clearly paid off – Osgood Perkins’ serial killer horror is currently the highest opening original horror of the year), NEON have released an aural nightmare in the form of musical stylings from Mr Longlegs himself.
Titled Fire, Fire, Fire, Hiss, NEON describes the track as “the last known musical recording by Dale Ferdinand Kobble before the voices took over.” (side note: did anyone else think it was Cobble, not Kobble? The more you know etc)
SPOILERS: as you’ll know if you’ve seen Longlegs, Dale Ferdinand Kobble is the name of the eponymous serial killer played by Nicolas Cage.
The song is heavy on the glam rock inspirations that run through Longlegs, with Cage’s unique vocals providing a very eerie tone to the overall track.
In case you’ve been hiding under a rock for the entirety of this year and Longlegs has escaped you, the film follows Maika Monroe (It Follows) as Detective Lee Harker, an FBI agent tasked with uncovering a series of occult clues linking to Longlegs (Cage) and his decade-spanning killing spree.
The cast also includes Blair Underwood (Bad Hair), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Carmel Amit (Ghost Wars) and Alicia Witt (Urban Legend).
Hopefully, we can expect a full album from Mr Kobble dropping sometime soon. In the meantime, take a listen to Fire, Fire, Fire, Hiss via NEON’s official Twitter/X, below:
