Jessica Sula in MALUM.

Enjoy a night of demonic rituals, vicious cult doings and bloody paranormal chaos from the comfort of your very own couch, as Welcome Villain’s Malum hits on demand and digital tomorrow, May 16!

Writer/director Anthony DiBlasi’s reimagining of his 2014 cult hit Last Shift is bigger, bolder and MUCH bloodier. Starring Jessica Sula (Skins), Candice Coke (Kevin Can F**K Himself), Chaney Morrow (Haunt) and Clarke Wolfe (Satanic Panic, Torn Hearts), Malum has been scaring audiences silly since its theatrical release on March 31.

If you’ve seen Last Shift you’ll of course have some idea of what you’re in for, plot-wise:

On a search to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding her fatherโ€™s death, a newly appointed police officer, Jessica Loren (Sula) is assigned to the last shift in a decommissioned police station where a notoriously vicious cult saw their demise years prior. The lone officer at the station, she soon finds herself barraged by terrifying paranormal events, and in the process, is taken on a journey during which she learns the shocking truth behind her familyโ€™s entanglement with a demented cult leader.ย Malumย takes the premise of the 2014 festival hit and flips it on its head, thrusting viewers into an unrelenting, adrenaline-fueled, bloody cult nightmare.

Even though the plot might look familiar, Malum is full of surprises. We’ve previously shared DiBlasi’s thoughts about taking the Last Shift story to a whole ‘nother level, including that highly malevolent-sounding name change:

โ€œWith this new film, we really wanted it to stand on its own, and giving it a new title absolutely does that…The name โ€˜Malumโ€™ is not only a major element of the plot and how things unfold, but that word, in some of the oldest languages in history, means โ€˜evilโ€™ and โ€˜an offense against right or law,โ€™ which seamlessly ties into the twisted, horrific themes of the film. Once audiences see the movie, they wonโ€™t soon forget the name โ€˜Malumโ€™.โ€

Malum will be available tomorrow on iTunes, Prime Video, VUDU and Google Play. Here’s the trailer for Malum to whet your appetite before you #FeedTheDemon tomorrow!
