Mike Flanagan’s long-awaited The Fall of the House of Usher is heading to Netflix just in time for spooky season, with an October 12 premiere date announced today, along with some first look pictures.
Based on the “multiple works” of Edgar Allan Poe, The Fall of the House of Usher marks Flanagan’s final series for Netflix, following the Gerald’s Game director’s five series deal with Netflix and Intrepid Pictures. Preceding Usher have been the critically-acclaimed series’ The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and, most recently, The Midnight Club.
The Fall of the House of Usher stars Flanaverse staples Carla Gugino (The Haunting of Hill House), Bruce Greenwood (Gerald’s Game), Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass), Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass) and T’Nia Miller (The Haunting of Bly Manor). Star Wars legend Mark Hamill and Scream 4‘s Mary McDonnell also star, as do Carl Lumbly, Michael Trucco, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney and Robert Longstreet.

“In this wicked 8-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”
Flanagan and frequent collaborator Michael Fimognari each directed four episodes of the series, as well as executive producing alongside Trevor Macy and Emmy Grinwis.
As always, we’re EXTREMELY hyped for any new Flanagan projects (including his recent The Dark Tower promise), and this one is no exception. And with Carla Gugino promising Tudum.com that the series is “batshit crazy in the best possible way”, Fall of the House of Usher has shot straight to the top of our October watchlist.
