Seems like every other day we’re getting some sort of update on Tim Burton’s soon-to-begin-filming Beetlejuice 2, the long-awaited sequel to the director’s iconic 1988 original, Beetlejuice.

Today’s update is quite the curveball, however: according to The Hollywood Reporter, Monica Bellucci is joining the film’s ever-expanding cast, and will apparently be playing Beetlejuice’s wife. Does this mean we’ll get to see Bellucci in traditional Beetlejuice makeup? Perhaps in a gorgeous black-and-white striped gown? We can only speculate, but … seems a safe bet.

Worth noting that, in the same report, THR says that Winona Ryder is now onboard to return as Lydia Deetz. Previous casting announcements have mentioned Ryder as being likely to return, but this is the first time we’re hearing that she’s officially signed on to the film. She’ll be joining the already-announced Michael Keaton and Jenna Ortega, who’ll be playing Deetz’s daughter, as well as Catherine O’Hara (!!!) and Justin Theroux, who’ll be playing an all-new character.

Plot details on Beetlejuice 2 are being kept firmly under wraps, but with the film due to start shooting in the next month, we’re guessing that we’ll be given a bit more to go on in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for those updates as they roll in, gang.
