As you might’ve heard by now, the good folks at NEON have put together a brand-new, 20th anniversary restoration of Park Chan-wook’s insta-classic shocker, Oldboy.

That 2003 film starred the great Choi Min-sik as Oh Dae-Su, an old man who finds himself kidnapped and held against his will in a very confined hotel room for 15 years. One day, Oh Dae-Su is suddenly released from his unusual prison, and sets out on an exceptionally violent and disturbing quest to find the person responsible for keeping him captive for all those years. There’s plenty more to it than that, but on the off-chance you’ve never seen Oldboy, we’ll leave the rest for you to discover.

Tomorrow brings us the first trailer for NEON’s Oldboy restoration, but in the meantime – check this out this new poster they’ve put together for the re-release:

Perfection.

As of this writing, we don’t know exactly when the newly-restored Oldboy will hit theaters, but if they’re aiming to make it a real anniversary celebration, we’re guessing it’ll arrive somewhere later this year, maybe around the original’s release date of November 21st. Perhaps this is something we’ll get to see in September, at this year’s Fantastic Fest? Only time will tell.

Stay tuned for more on the 20th anniversary edition of Oldboy as further updates (and tomorrow’s trailer) become available.
