Spooky season is fast approaching, and coming to crank up the Halloween vibes is Dark Harvest, the long-awaited fantasy horror from David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night).

The tale of a twisted local legend stars Elizabeth Reaserย (The Haunting of Hill House),ย Jeremy Daviesย (Hannibal),ย Luke Kirbyย (No Man of God),ย Casey Likesย (The Birch) andย Emyri Crutchfieldย (Tell Me Your Secrets).

Based on Norman Partridge’s 2006 novel of the same name, Dark Harvest‘s plot synopsis – adapted for screen by Michael Gilio reads as follows:

In a cursed town, the annual harvest becomes a brutal battle for survival. On Halloween 1963, Sawtooth Jack, a terrifying legend, rises from the cornfields, threatening the townโ€™s children. Groups of boys unite to defeat the murderous scarecrow before midnight. Richie, a rebellious outcast, joins the run, motivated by his brotherโ€™s previous victory. As the hunt progresses, Richie makes a shocking discovery and faces a pivotal choice to break the relentless cycle.

Dark Harvest has been in development hell for quite some time, with news of the adaptation first cropping up in 2019 and subsequently derailed by the pandemic. Now, Sawtooth Jack is finally getting the movie he so deserves.

Dark Harvest hits Alamo Drafthouse Theaters for one night only on October 11, before heading to Digital on Friday October 13 – the PERFECT date for a horror movie release. Get cozy, grab a pumpkin spice flavor beverage of your choice and feast your eyes on the first trailer and poster below:
