Publisher DSTLRY has announced a couple of new horror comics from some of the biggest creators in the industry. First up we have White Boat, which hails from the creative duo of writer Scott Snyder (Wytches) and artist Francesco Francavilla (The Midnite Show), followed by Spectregraph, which comes from writer James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children) and artist Christian Ward (Batman: City of Madness), both of which are due to arrive in 2024. Plan accordingly.
โWhite Boat is by far my most ambitious and expansive deep dive into horror yet,โ Snyder says of the new book. โFrancesco and I are using DSTLRYโs oversized format to unearth a sprawling and terrifying mythology that spans oceans and continents.โ The duo previously collaborated on Night of the Ghoul. As for what the story is about? The synopsis for the new book reads as follows:
โWhite Boat revolves around a titular mega-yacht that the super-rich use to traverse the globeโfloating islands where your every desire can be fulfilled. And getting invited on board should be a dream come trueโฆthat is until the crew traps and transports you to a remote island where secret cults have existed for millennia, working on something called โThe Human Project.โ Does the White Boat ship you to paradise or sink you into hell on earth?โ
โWeโve been cultivating these ideas for years, and we promise a descent into horror like youโve never seen beforeโthis is a visceral, confrontational take on the haunted house story,โ Tynion IV says of his new collaboration with Ward. Here is the synopsis for Spectregraph:
โSpectregraph revolves around an isolated mansion nestled into the coastline, a short drive north of Los Angeles. Rumors have haunted the place for yearsโits owner a titan of American industry, with a strange fascination in the occult and the paranormal. The richest men and women in the country have whispered to each other, trying to understand what he was building alone in that mansion for all those years. And now finally, with his death, and his estate open for saleโฆ they can finally find out for themselves.โ
Weโve got some cover art for both books which you can check out below. “Itโs a rare story that balances claustrophobic psychological terror with global conspiracy,โ Francavilla says of their new book. “Itโs simply epic; we canโt wait for you all to embark on this journey with us.โ Meanwhile, Ward referred to his new title as โan acid-fueled psychedelic nightmareโ before adding, โI canโt wait for everyone to experience it and find themselves haunted by our ghosts, The likes of which have never seen before,โ
