We’ve been just buzzing since we heard about Swarm, the upcoming Amazon Prime series from Donald Glover and Watchmen writer Janine Nabers, and the new trailer released today promises a stylish and psychological thriller story with more than a little sting in its tail.
Premiering on March 17, Swarm stars Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah) as:
‘a young woman who is obsessed with a fictional pop star (whose oeuvre and aesthetic are very similar to Beyoncé’s). The show is a dive into Dre’s life, her fandom, and how it takes her to dark, unexpected places.’
Alongside Fishback, Swarm also stars actress and Chloe x Halle singer Chloe Bailey as Dre’s sister, Marissa, and Snowfall star Damson Idris as Dre’s boyfriend. Additional guest stars include Internet personality Rickey Thompson, Paris Jackson (American Horror Stories), Rory Culkin (Scream 4), Kiersey Clemons (Sweetheart), and comedian Byron Bowers
The new trailer teases more of an insight into Dre’s obsession, as she maxes out credit cards for arena tickets, seems eerily hypnotised by bees and causes a whole lot of bloody, brutal chaos. The trailer also features the best use of a Pixies Where Is My Mind? needle drop since Malignant.
Prime Video will be premiering all episodes of Swarm on March 17, so get ready to binge watch because – if this trailer is anything to go by – Swarm is not messing around:
