The most romantic month of the year is upon us and with it, a new trailer for Eli Roth’s Be Mine: A VR Valentine’s Slasher which teases a Valentine’s Day party gone horribly wrong.
Be Mine is a 30-minute, 180- and 360- degree immersive VR experience stars Peyton List (Cobra Kai), Inanna Sarkis (Seance) and Alanna Ubach (Euphoria) and will premiere next week on Friday, February 10 at 7pm PST/10pm EST in Meta Horizon Worlds and Meta Quest TV.
Written by Roth and directed by Adam MacDonald (Pyewacket), Be Mine follows;
…Becca, a college senior who’s going to throw the best Valentine’s Day party ever. There’s just one caveat: everyone invited is secretly there to help Becca catch her Valentine’s Day stalker — an anonymous maniac in a Cupid mask who kills any man that gets close to her with a bow and arrow. But this Valentine’s Day will be slightly different as everyone is ready to turn the tables on the killer that walks among them. With the help of the police, her sorority sisters and the fraternity next door, Becca and the party fight back to stop the carnage and uncover the mysterious secret behind a bloody Valentine’s Day massacre.
In an exclusive interview with Meta, Roth revealed that Be Mine was born from his desire to do a ‘straight slasher’ (although work has started on his fake-trailer Thanksgiving movie), and spoke more about Be Mine will deliver on traditional tropes and twists found in the beloved genre;
…part of the fun as the director is misdirecting the audience into letting them think they know who the killer is until they’re guessing right up until the end. I’ve seen enough movies to know when it works and when it doesn’t work. It’s always really great when they get you, and you never saw it coming. And I think we have a really fun twist in this one. I don’t think people are going to figure it out until the end.
Be Mine is a follow-up to Eli Roth’s Haunted House: Trick-VR-Treat, which premiered in Meta Horizon Worlds and Meta Quest TV in 2022. Mina Lefevre, Head of Development & Programming at Meta calls Be Mine ‘a terrifying and immersive experience that will make you feel as if you are truly part of the action’.
The great news is you can still join the party even if you don’t have a Meta Quest headset, as the experience will be available to watch on Crypt TV’s Facebook and Instagram pages as well. You’ve still got time to get a date for the big day, so check out the trailer below while you wait:
