Today brings us the first trailer for Ben Brewer’s Arcadian, a post-apocalyptic creature feature starring Nicolas Cage as a father desperately trying to keep his family alive whilst coming under nightly attack from … well, we’re not entirely sure! Some sorta creatures. Think of this as a riff on A Quiet Place, and chances are you won’t be too far off the mark.

Here’s an official plot synopsis:

โ€œIn a near future, normal life on Earth has been decimated. Paul and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life โ€“ tranquility by day and torment by night. Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil. One day, when Thomas doesnโ€™t return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive.โ€

In addition to Cage, Arcadian also stars Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins, and Sadie Soverall. From the looks of things, they’re all gonna have their hands full staving off … whatever the hell those creatures turn out to be. Aliens? Genetically mutated wildlife? Former human beings? Whatever the case may be, they look fucking pissed. Would not care to share a post-apocalyptic world with those bad boys, no sir.

Arcadian will soon debut at this year’s SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX before landing in theaters on April 12th. It will arrive on Shudder and AMC+ later in the year, though there’s no firm release date attached to that just yet. Stay tuned for further updates on Arcadian as they roll in, folks.
