Stop me if you’ve heard this one before— Barbara Crampton, Heather Langenkamp and Bonnie Aarons walk into a bar… and sit down at a table with Cher. Yes, that Cher, (there’s only one, darlings). The power of pop and screen nobility collides with absolute horror royalty for the upcoming Little Bites. Executive produced by mother and son Cher and Chaz Bono, the latest horror feature written and directed by Spider One (Bury The Bride, Allegoria) stars Krsy Fox (Bury The Bride) and horror icons Barbara Crampton, Heather Langenkamp and Bonnie Aarons. Jon Sklaroff, Elizabeth Caro, Chaz Bono, Lyndsi LaRose, and Mark Kelly will also be joining the can you freakin believe this cast. So what exactly are we in for? We brought you the official synopsis this morning, but here it is again for good measure.
Little Bites follows Mindy (Fox), a young widow and mother who desperately tries to protect her daughter Alice (Elizabeth Caro) from the grips of a fiendish Flesh eating monster named Agyar (Jon Sklaroff). Mindy has been secretly sacrificing her own life by allowing the creature to slowly feast on her body as she keeps Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s house.
Fitting that a story that seems to be about a mother’s love and ultimate sacrifice is being produced by a mother-son duo. On working with his mother as a producing partner, Bono says, “I’m so excited to be working on my second film with OneFox Productions, and working with my mom, Cher, is a bonus.” Bono has appeared in American Horror Story, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Bury the Bride. Cher, of course, is an Academy Award, Grammy Award, Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, (and the list goes on) winner, but we’re especially partial to her turn as one-third of The Witches of Eastwick, and we’re excited to see her return to the genre whether that’s in front of or behind the camera.
On the murderer’s row of talent involved with this project, director Spider One says “As someone who grew up immersed in the genres of horror and science fiction, it is nothing short of a dream come true to have this cast assembled around me and such a strong script.” We strongly second that. “Dream cast” is no euphemism here! We know and love Fango Fam Barbara Crampton from Re-Animator, From Beyond, You’re Next, We Are Still Here, Jakob’s Wife, and most recently have been eagerly anticipating Suitable Flesh, which she also co-produced.
Crampton exclusively shared her Little Bites excitement with Fango, “Thrilled to join this daring team of stellar filmmakers. Spider One and Krsy Fox are two of the most hardworking indie darlings out there. Excited to be joined by my friends Bonnie Aarons, Heather Langenkamp, and Chaz Bono. Having the iconic, boundary-pushing Cher as our executive producer is icing on the cake.”
Heather Langenkamp solidified her horror royalty crown by going toe-to-toe with Freddy Krueger as Nancy Thompson and most recently, making us question her intentions as Dr. Georgina Stanton in Mike Flanagan’s Netflix Series The Midnight Club. Bonnie Aarons has scared the holy hell out of us as The Nun in James Wan’s The Conjuring universe with the highly anticipated The Nun II coming this fall. “I am so excited again to work with the brilliant Onefox Productions, along with my dear friends as castmates,” adds Aarons. If you ask us, this sounds like an (un)holy trifecta for maximum nightmare fare.
“The script for Little Bites is equal parts fascinating, heartbreaking, and disturbing. When I read it for the first time, I fell in love with the character of Mindy. This is a dark and scary film with so much love around it,” says the film’s lead and co-producer Krsy Fox. When this one hits screens, you may also notice a familiar face in the form of your most humble Digital Editor, and I promise to bring back some exciting set visit details.
Little Bites goes into production later this month, with Spider One at the helm directing, writing and producing the film with co-producers Krsy Fox, Cher, and Chaz Bono, also joined by Ian Hoge, Tyler Connolly, and Wendy and Mark Berry. As this one is just moving into production later this month, no release details just yet, but bet your butts we’ll keep you posted!
