Chances are, if you’re even remotely a fan of the Evil Dead franchise, you’re well aware that the series’ next installment, Evil Dead Rise, is headed to theaters this April via director Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) and producers Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and longtime Evil Dead headliner Bruce Campbell. Word on the street suggests this one might be something special, and we couldn’t be more excited to get a look at it.
Which brings us to today’s news: Bruce Campbell dropped a fun teaser video to his Twitter feed this morning, one in which he reveals that the trailer for Evil Dead Rise will be along tomorrow … and that the film represents the “scariest” entry the franchise has ever seen.
Here, take a look:

Exciting stuff!
Here’s an official plot synopsis, in case you’ve been living under a rock:
โIn the fifthย Evil Deadย film,ย aย road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sistersโ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellieโs building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.โ
That’s right – as mentioned in the video above (and as implied by that plot synopsis), Bruce Campbell appears to be sitting out this installment of the series, which will instead star Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davis and Nell Fisher. Who will survive, and what will be left of them?
Evil Dead Rise hits theaters on April 21st. The film’s first trailer arrives tomorrow, and you can bet your ass we’ll have that in front of you just as soon as it lands. Beyond that? Stay tuned for further updates on Evil Dead Rise as they roll in.
