With production expected to begin this month on the second season of HBO’s blockbuster series The Last of Us, the show’s casting announcements are starting to come in fast and furious. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will both be returning for S2, of course, but they’ll be joined newcomers Kaitlyn Dever (playing Abby, a controversial character among The Last of Us fans) and Isabela Merced, who’ll be playing Dina, a love interest to Ramsey’s Ellie.
So, who’s next? According to Entertainment Weekly, that’d be Schitt’s Creek and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star Catherine O’Hara, who they say is currently in talks for a role in the show’s second season. Unlike any of the aforementioned cast members, however, O’Hara would be playing a new character, rather than one already established in either of Naughty Dog’s Last of Us games.
O’Hara confirmed the rumor herself on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live.
Given that The Last of Us is only set to resume filming this month, it’s gonna be a while before we’re actually sitting down to watch this new batch of episodes. As previously reported, HBO expects the show to return sometime in 2025. Stay tuned for further casting announcements and updates on The Last of Us S2 as they roll in.
