At least one familiar face will be along for the ride when Chucky returns for its second season. Jennifer Tilly will indeed be reprising her role as Tiffany Valentine in the horror series set within the Childโs Play franchise, just as sheโs done for more than 20 years now. The news was confirmed by USA Network and Syfy, with the show poised to return on both networks later this year.
While we wonโt get into spoilers here for those who still need to catch up on the first season (which is now streaming on Peacock), Tiffany had a big part to play and was just one of several familiar characters who returned alongside the titular killer doll, voiced by Brad Dourif. Some of the other actors who returned in the first season included Alex Vincent (Andy Barclay), Christine Elise (Kyle) and Fiona Dourif (Nica Pierce).
Tillyโs work in the franchise dates back to 1998 when she debuted as Tiffany in Bride of Chucky, the fourth movie in the franchise and the second-to-last in the original iteration to make it to theaters. Tiffany would also return in the sequel, Seed of Chucky, which got a bit meta, and saw Tilly also playing a version of herself. She was Charles Lee Rayโs girlfriend and has since become a huge part of the franchiseโs lore, appearing in both Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky.
One fascinating thing about Childโs Play is that, unlike so many other horror franchises, it has managed to maintain its continuity for more than 30 years under the direction of creator Don Mancini. While there was a reboot released in theaters in 2019, which saw Star Wars icon Mark Hamill voicing a technologically advanced version of Chucky, the movie failed to deliver on commercial expectations.
On the flip side, the show managed to become one of the biggest new shows on cable during 2021, drawing nearly 12 million viewers across its first season. A renewal was announced ahead of the season one finale, indicating that the networks had tremendous confidence in the series. Thus, the uninterrupted continuity remains, which is truly something when we consider how messy the timelines get when looking at the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchises, for example.
The series is executive produced by Don Mancini, Nick Antosca, Alex Hedlund, David Kirschner and Jeff Renfroe. Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Bjรถrgvin Arnarson, Lexa Doig and Devon Sawa starred in the first season. Itโs unclear who else will return at this time, though Chucky did rack up quite the body count, so certain characters are indeed off the table.
Chucky season 2 is set to debut this fall on USA Network and Syfy.
