After existing as an internet rumor for the past week or so, it’s now been made official: the third season of Syfy’s smash-hit Chucky series, from the legendary Don Mancini, is being split into two halves – a batch of episodes that will air this year, and another batch of episodes that will air sometime in 2024.
A report over at Bloody Disgusting confirms the news, alongside the (very likely correct) presumption that the season is being split to accommodate the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes. Pay up, studios!
Alongside this news, Syfy also released a new trailer for Chucky‘s third season, a trailer that indicates this might be the wildest season of Chucky yet (they’ve got Chucky in the White House, for god’s sake):
Here’s an official plot synopsis for Chucky S3:
“In Chuckyโs unending thirst for power, Season 3 now sees Chucky ensconced with the most powerful family in the world โ Americaโs First Family, inside the infamous walls of the White House. How did Chucky wind up here? What in Godโs name does he want? And how can Jake, Devon, and Lexy possibly get to Chucky inside the worldโs most secure building, all while balancing the pressures of romantic relationships and growing up? Meanwhile, Tiffany faces a looming crisis of her own as the police close in on her for ‘Jennifer Tillyโs’ murderous rampage last season.”
Yup, that sounds completely unhinged, but we’d expect nothing less from the team behind Chucky at this point. What a wild-ass series this is.
Anyway, please adjust your expectations accordingly regarding the rollout of Chucky S3, and stay tuned for more on the show’s third season as further updates become available.
