As you might have guessed from our exclusive title and cast reveals, we’re pretty darn excited for Carnage for Christmas, the upcoming festive horror from teen filmmaker Alice Maio Mackay (So Vam, T-Blockers) – and today we’re extra proud to bring you an exclusive first poster reveal.

The fifth feature from the Australian writer/director stars actor and model Jeremy Moineau,ย Dominique Boothย (Boogeyman Pop), Zarif (Lonesome, Wellmania), Joe Romeo (Awoken, Firebite), Yassica Switakowski (Last King of the Cross), Alyssa Peters, Tumelo Nthupi, Lewi Dawson (First Day), andย Olivia Deebleย (More Than This,ย Secret Society of Second-Born Royals). Emmy-award nominated filmmaker Vera Drew (The People’s Joker) is in the editing chair, and delivering the gnarly VFX is Adele Shearwin who’s handling effects on the upcoming Phillipou Brothers sequel Talk 2 Me.

Written by Mackay and Ben Pahl Robinson, Carnage for Christmas will explore the murky world of true crime, ghosts and urban legends, with the full plot synopsis reading:

When true-crime podcaster and sleuth Lola visits her hometown at Christmas for the first time since running away and transitioning, the vengeful ghost of a historical murderer and urban legend seemingly arises to kill again. Lola must solve the case before her community is slaughtered. She’sย up against not only a psychotic killer, but a town haunted by secrets.ย

Mackay, who is proudly trans herself, is dedicated to telling LGBTQ+ stories with her art, with her previous features (including Bad Girl Boogey and Satranic Panic) all centering trans and queer voices in a world that needs them more than ever – and it sounds like Carnage for Christmas is no different.

Designed by the hugely talented Sister Hyde, the poster for Carnage for Christmas is giving us vintage vibes akin to Black Christmas – needless to say, it’s awesome:
