Netflix is keeping Fear Street fans fed, leading up to this Friday’s official release. Hot on the heels of that Part 1 trailer drop, the first five minutes of the first installment have now been released. Whet your appetite as you witness Maya Hawke running through a neon-lit mall, but this time she’s dodging a good old-fashioned, knife-toting slasher in a mask. The scene is instantly set with Hawke as a bookstore employee and fan of “low-brow horror,” defending one of her paperback favorites with a flippant finger for an opinionated customer. This is immediately followed by a NIN needle drop, and the series hits the ground running, heavy on the ’90s horror vibes. That is to say, it looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
Fear Street Part 1: 1994 begins streaming on Netflix July 2. Luckily we won’t have to wait too long for the rest of the trilogy, with Fear Street Part 2: 1978 dropping July 9 and then Fear Street Part 3: 1666 on July 16.
