It may nearly be over for Friday the 13th: The Game, but players still enjoying what Gun Media’s take on the franchise has to offer will be getting a little something later this week. The game’s social media accounts have confirmed that, in the interest of making it easier on database servers, all players are about to be maxed out. That’s right! Everyone will be leveled up to 150 and receive all the legendary perks.

Basically, with the game set to be delisted from storefronts in December and the servers set to go offline for good a year later in 2024, Illfonic and Gun Media are trying to make the most of it while they still can. As the update states, no matchmaking functionality will be lost, and this will level the playing field in arguably the most entertaining way imaginable. Every player will have the chance to enjoy all the game has to offer for whatever time they have left to play it.
Gun Media clarified that “this does not include DLC kills. The kills referenced here are unlockable kills in game. Base Game and DLC price reduction is in effect and will stay that way until removed from stores.” As was explained several weeks ago, the company’s license for Friday the 13th is set to expire, so the game will be retired in the coming months. It’s a real shame, but they truly seem to be honoring the players as best they can, while they can. Respect. For those who may be unfamiliar, the official description for the game reads as follows:
“Friday the 13th: The Game is a third-person horror, survival game where players take on the role of a teen counselor, or for the first time ever, Jason Voorhees. You and six other unlucky souls will do everything possible to escape and survive while the most well-known killer in the world tracks you down and brutally slaughters you.”
Meanwhile, Jason Voorhees fans have new stuff to look forward to for the first time in a long time. Not only do we have the Crystal Lake TV show in development at Peacock, but it was recently revealed that a new Friday the 13th video game is also on the way. That might explain why this game is being put out to pasture. In any event, we’re getting more Jason even though this much-loved game is on the way out.
