Today brings us the very first trailer for Samuel Bodin’s Cobweb, starring Lizzy Caplan, Woody Norman, Cleopatra Coleman, and Antony Starr. Produced by Vertigo’s Roy Lee and the dynamic duo of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (among others), this is one of our most highly-anticipated horror movies of the year, and we’re delighted to finally be getting a look at it.
We’ll take a look at that trailer in just a second, but let’s first take a gander at the film’s official plot synopsis.
“Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall โ a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peterโs fear intensifies, he believes that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?”
Alright, sounds good. Now: let’s see what you got, Cobweb trailer!
Right off the bat, we love the way this movie looks. It’s not just the dread and the overtly spooky stuff, either – it’s the frame compositions, the lighting, the inherent weirdness of it all (that weirdness tracks, as word on the street suggests Chris Thomas Devlin’s script is a bit unusual, as well). We’re also pleased to see Cobweb‘s production designer going absolutely apeshit with the pumpkins.
You might see those pumpkins and assume that Cobweb is arriving later this year, closer to Halloween. You would be wrong in that assumption! Bodin’s film will hit theaters on July 21st, just over a month from now. We will definitely be checking this one out when it arrives, and will have further Cobweb-related updates for you as they continue to roll in. Stay tuned, folks!
