Good news for those of you who’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Gil Keenan’s Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire: according to THR’s Aaron Couch, the highly-anticipated sequel to Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife will now be along one week sooner, landing in theaters on March 22nd rather than the previously-reported release date of March 29th!
Here’s an official plot synopsis:
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started โ the iconic New York City firehouse โ to team up with the original Ghostbusters, whoโve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.
The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire cast is, as you may have already heard, sprawling, and includes Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Paul Rudd, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, Emily Alyn Lind, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Annie Potts, and – last, but certainly not least – the great Carrie Coon.
For those who missed the trailer previously, here it is again:
Nothing further to report on Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates as we draw ever closer to the film’s March 22nd release date!
