A new report over on Deadline reveals that casting continues to be very much underway on Eli Roth’s forthcoming holiday-slasher, Thanksgiving, and just wait’ll you find out who they’ve brought into the fold.
Says Deadline:
“Gina Gershon, Tim Dillon and Rick Hoffman are set to join the cast of TriStar Pictures and Spyglass Media Groupโs horror pic Thanksgiving, Eli Rothโs next feature film which is based on the fake trailer featured in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantinoโs Grindhouse.”
This represents something of a reunion for Gershon and Eli Roth, who recently worked together on Lionsgate’s upcoming video game adaptation, Borderlands. More recently, the actress appeared in Riverdale, but her genre roots run deep, all the way back to films like the Wachowski’s Bound (in which she co-starred with future Bride of Chucky, Jennifer Tilly) and Paul Verhoeven’s cult classic, Showgirls.
Tim Dillon, meanwhile, is a standup comedian and podcast host who “won the title of New Yorkโs Funniest 2016 at Carolines NY Comedy Festival and in 2017 he was named of the top ten comics you need to know by Rolling Stone magazine.” As for Rick Hoffman, you may have seen him on Showtime’s Billions, USA’s Suits, or – in further reunion news – Eli Roth’s Hostel.
We’re still not entirely sure what story Thanksgiving will tell (if the faux trailer that appeared in Grindhouse is any indication, it’ll be a fairly straightforward affair, but who knows what’s changed in the 15 years since that movie arrived?), but we’re excited to hear all three of these folks are joining the cast, and particularly Gershon.
Nothing further to report on Thanksgiving at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates as the film works its way into production and, eventually, into theaters.
