A Quiet Place: Day One
Fans of theย Quiet Place universe can (silently) celebrate because the prequel is finally here! Some new faces we'll be seeing include Lupita Nyongโo, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Djimon Hounsou and Denis OโHare.
The franchise spinoff is written and directed byย Michael Sarnoskiย (Pig), and deviates from the Abbott family story. Krasinski shared withย Deadlineย that the prequel will follow Nyongโo's character in New York and โtakes us back to where it all began.โ
And you can check out our interview with writer/director Michael Sarnoski along with our Alex Wolff and Djimon Hounsou interview about creating a post-apocalyptic New York and the real star of the show โ Frodo the cat.
The Exorcism
Russell Crowe is doing some more exorcisms, and we have the trailer to prove it. Produced byย Scream's Kevin Williamson, Crowe stars as an actor shooting a supernatural horror movie. Here's the synopsis:
Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter, Lee (Ryan Simpkins), wonders if he's slipping back into his past addictions or if there's something more sinister at play. The film also stars Sam Worthington, Chloe Bailey, Adam Goldberg and David Hyde Pierce.
Written and directed by Joshua John Miller, who also wrote the modern horror classicย The Final Girls, and starred as the obnoxious younger brother inย Teen Witchย and as Homer inย Near Dark.ย How many more reasons to do you need!?
The Watchers
Ishana Night Shyamalanโs directorial debut, The Watchers, remains on the big screen. Based on the book of the same name by A.M. Shine, it appears Ishana continues to carry the family business into delightfully dreadful territory. Here's the official synopsis:
From producer M. Night Shyamalan comes The Watchers, written for the screen and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and based on the novel by A.M. Shine. The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night. You canโt see them, but they see everything.

The Strangers: Chapter 1
The Strangers: Chapter 1ย marks a new beginning for the franchise. Bryan Bertinoโs 2008 modern home invasion classic has been reimagined in this upcoming trilogy of movies helmed by Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea, Exorcist: The Beginning). Here's the official synopsis:
Chapter 1. Madelaine Petsch (TVโs โRiverdaleโ) stars as a young woman on a road trip with her fiancรฉ. But when they stop at a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a vicious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason and must use courage and cunning to survive one long, terrifying night.
And take a deep dive with us into howย The Strangers became an unlikely horror saga spanning multiple decades.
You'll be able to watchย The Strangers: Chapter 1 at home pretty soon, so if you want to catch it on the big screen, better hurry.
I Saw The TV Glow
Jane Schoenbrunโsย I Saw the TV Glow is still playing in select theaters, it's also now available on VOD. So if your local cinema isn't showing this one on the big screen, fret not because it's now available to all!
The creepypasta-esque plot ofย I Saw the TV Glow revolves around a nostalgic, '90s-style TV show. Here's the full synopsis. For the movie, not the in-universe TV show.
Teenager Owen is just trying to make it through life in the suburbs when his classmate introduces him to a mysterious late-night TV show โ a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own. In the pale glow of the television, Owenโs view of reality begins to crack.
Emma Stone and Dave McCaryโs production banner Fruit Tree produced this alongside A24. The musical contingent is another aspect that fascinated us right out of the gate on this one, with original music composed by singer-songwriter Alex G (who also worked on Schoenbrunโs Worldโs Fair), indie rock artist Lindsey Jordan (Snail Mail), Yeule, Haley Dahlโs Sloppy Jane (featuring Phoebe Bridgers), King Woman and Caroline Polachek all on the musical roll call.
Watch At Home
As we gear up for big summer horror movie releases, you can catch some new horror movies you may have missed from the comfort of your own couch.ย The First Omenย flew wildly under the radar, but has since found a growing fanbase now that it's streaming on Hulu. Do you count yourself amongst the recently converted? If you still haven't caught this one, it's a great time to sit down for a directorial debut that will likely shock with you how excellent it is.
It's hard to believeย The First Omen is Arkasha Stevenson's feature directorial debut. After battling against an NC-17 rating, Stevenson managed to birth a horrifying tale that goes heavy on the body horror, throwing audiences into a beautiful nightmare.
Here's the official synopsis:
When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.
