Legendary filmmaker, writer and actor John Waters (Serial Mom, Pink Flamingos) is returning to the world of Don Mancini’s Chucky almost twenty years after his role in 2004’s Seed of Chucky, Entertainment Weekly have exclusively revealed today.
According to EW, the Pope of Trash will play Wendell Wilkins, the reclusive creator of the Good Guy dolls, who gets drawn into the psychopathic Chuckyโs tangled web on an episode of Chucky season 3, Part 2.
Chucky fans will remember that Waters previously played the ill-fated photographer Pete Peters, who met a grisly end via sulphuric acid.
Speaking with EW, Waters commented fondly on his time in the Chucky-verse:
“I still get recognized on the subway from Chucky […] The only person who has ever recognized me on the subway, itโs because of Chucky.”
Due to this year’s strikes, Chucky‘s third season was split in half. If you’re not yet caught up with Chucky Season 3 (where have you BEEN, first of all?), this go-round has seen the mini murderer expanding his bloodlust on a much larger scale by terrorizing the actual White House:
In Chuckyโs unending thirst for power, Season 3 now sees Chucky ensconced with the most powerful family in the world โ Americaโs First Family, inside the infamous walls of the White House. How did Chucky wind up here? What in Godโs name does he want? And how can Jake, Devon, and Lexy possibly get to Chucky inside the worldโs most secure building, all while balancing the pressures of romantic relationships and growing up? Meanwhile, Tiffany faces a looming crisis of her own as the police close in on her for ‘Jennifer Tillyโs’ murderous rampage last season.
The second half of the season is due to air in 2024 on Syfy and USA – and best believe we’ll keep you very much posted on any Chucky updates going forward!
