Following up 2020’s terrifying Caveat, Irish filmmaker Damian McCarthy is back with Oddity, and today’s brand new trailer from IFC Films promises this one to be just as horrifying.

Starring Carolyn Bracken (You Are Not My Mother) in dual roles, Gwilym Lee, Tadhg Murphy and Caroline Menton, Oddity follows a blind medium who is compelled to solve the mystery surrounding her sister’s murder. The cast also includes a terrifying wooden mannequin who can be seen in today’s new trailer.

A full synopsis reads:

When Dani is brutally murdered at the remote country house that she and her husband Ted are renovating, everyone suspects a patient from the local mental health institution, where Ted is a doctor. However, soon after the tragic killing, the suspect is found dead. A year later, Dani’s blind twin sister Darcy, a self-proclaimed psychic and collector of cursed items, pays an unexpected visit to Ted and his new girlfriend, Yana. Convinced that there was more to her sister’s murder than people know, Darcy has brought with her the most dangerous items from her cursed collection to help her exact revenge.

Following Oddity’s premiere at SXSW, the film has been racking up rave reviews left right and center, with Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews calling it “a nightmare of a film”, and Fango’s own Jason Kauzlarich proudly proclaiming it the scariest movie he’s seen all year.

Anyone who saw Caveat knows that McCarthy is a hugely exciting name in new Irish horror, and single-handedly ruined toy rabbits for everyone who saw his directorial debut.

Oddity hits theaters on July 19 via IFC Films, and you can read an exclusive interview with star Carolyn Bracken in the upcoming issue of FANGORIA!
