From Polka Dot superhero to Abra Kadabra, David Dastmalchian has been all over the DC world but at his very core, he’s a monster kid at heart. Exhibit A: His hit comic book series Count Crowley from Dark Horse, paying homage to his love of midnight horror hosts. Now, not only can you immerse yourself in the adventures of the titular unlikely hero, you can wear her face. Err.. a mask of her face, that is. Thanks to the talented folks at Immortal Masks, we’re getting the first officially licensed premium silicone masks inspired by Count Crowley characters.
Dastmalchian says, โAs a lifelong lover of Halloween and haunts, itโs a dream come true to see my characters brought to life by the artists at Immortal Masks. I love that these stunning designs will appeal to both Count Crowley fans and people who just love terrifyingly hair-raising masks!โ
The first of these two masks will be THE Count Crowley (aka Jerri) and a Vampire (aka Hubert), based on the respective characters drawn by Lukas Ketner in the comic book series. Each officially licensed mask will also be accompanied by a Count Crowley logo decal and a formal certificate of authenticity signed by David Dastmalchian and (WHO FROM IMMORTAL MASKS?) The mask announcement will be made by David Dastmalchian during the โDark Horse Horror Hourโ panel on Sunday 7/23 in Room 6DE at San Diego Comic Con.
Want to get your hands on an official Count Crowley mask? The masks will be available on the official Immortal Masks website. Fans can get a peek in person at the upcoming Midsummer Scream Halloween and Horror Convention at the Long Beach Convention Center where Dastmalchian and Immortal Masks will be showcasing the masks on July 29th, but you can take a sneak peek right here, as a little treat.
Co-owner of Immortal Masks, George Frangadakis shares his excitement for the collaboration with longtime friend, David Dastmalchian, โHaving been personal friends with David for many years, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to get to work together again. When he first approached me with the idea, Count Crowley herself was an obvious choice. I really wanted to bring her to life .. or at least in silicone. And it worked out perfectly. Iโm seeing an army of Amateur Midnight Monster Hunters in the near future!โ
Andrew Freeman, Immortals Masks co-owner was a fan of the comic book and jumped at the chance to create a silicone tribute to the world of Crowley, โI absolutely love the comic book, so when presented with the chance to turn a few characters into silicone masks we jumped on the opportunity. We wanted to take loving care to stay true to the book while also introducing something we havenโt yet seen in the Immortal Masks catalog. I was immediately drawn to Hubert. I just loved his mouth, and the overall intensity his character exudes. He translated so well in sculptural form, and Iโm really looking forward to bringing him to fans and collectors as a wearable silicone mask.”
