If you’ve spent any amount of time studying the career of Stephen King, you know that Carrie – the Master of Horror’s very first novel, published all the way back in 1974 – is very much the title that put King on the map … both with readers and moviegoers: King’s wife, Tabitha, famously rescued the novel’s manuscript from the trash when King decided he wasn’t the guy to write that particular story (which led to the novel being a minor hit upon release), and when Brian De Palma’s feature film adaptation came along two years later, both the novel and King became household names.
And so, Carrie holds a special place in the hearts of many King fans (and, one would assume, Stephen King). It is therefore my distinct pleasure to report that De Palma’s film is getting one helluva 4K UHD release from the good folks at Scream Factory, who have multiple versions of the release ready for pre-order via their website.
The “standard” version of the set, if such a word really applies to a set this stacked, includes the movie in both 4K UHD and Blu-ray, along with a gigantic list of special features, including…

This is a fully-loaded Carrie set, about the best we could possibly hope for (if we were quibbling, I suppose we might note the lack of a new Stephen King interview with this release, but let’s not look a gift Carrie in the mouth), and a must-have for anyone looking to build out the best possible King-on-film collection.
Head on over to Scream Factory now to reserve your copy, whichever version that might be, and stay tuned for further King-on-film updates as they roll in. By the way, would it be too soon to hope for a 4K version of the Doctor Sleep director’s cut? No chance in Hell, huh? Oh, well. I’ll be over here keeping the faith for that (and, what the hell, a 4K Gerald’s Game, as well) in the meantime.
