Yesterday brought us Entertainment Weekly‘s first look at star Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene in The Nun 2. This time, Sister Irene is living an anonymous life in an Italian convent after escaping Valak in the first installment. But of course, the titular baddie won’t be defeated so easily. Valak is back, and allegedly possessing Sister Irene’s friend, Maurice (Jonas Bloquet). Director Michael Chaves expands on that synposis:
“Maurice made his way to France and he’s working at this boarding school as kind of a handyman. He has a friendship and a flirtation with one of the teachers there, and you can see him starting to mature, so that’s where our characters start out. But we know from the first film that there’s something terrible inside of him, that Valak escaped within him, and events pull Irene back on this collision course with her old friend.”
We’re just hoping Sister Irene can catch a break this time around. Stalked by a demonic Nun ranks pretty highly in our top ten most stressful situation scenarios. Let’s take a look at the official trailer below.
Hell hath no fury like a demon rejected by God and stripped of power! While we would be nun too pleased about encountering Valak in a dimly lit convent hallway, we are pretty damn happy to see Bonnie Aarons return to fill Valak’s habit. Aarons and Farmiga face off once more, and it looks like the dread will be free-flowing.
WB just launched a new “Frights Channel” on Instagram, dubbed “Frightz Camera Action” and so far, it’s filling up with The Nun 2 goods. The Conjuring Universe continues with Insidious: The Red Door hitting theaters July 7 and The Nun 2 haunting screens September 8.
