Universal’s Dark Universe might not have gone quite as planned, but it seems there’s still life in the reboot yet, with Universal Orlando set to bring the cinematic classics back to life in theme park form.

The full Universal Epic Universe, as it’s called, consists of five immersive new worlds, including Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk and, the one we’re here to tell you about, Dark Universe.

Universal Orlando’s site describes Dark Universe as follows:

From the experiments of Dr Victoria Frankenstein to a shadowy landscape where monsters roam, Dark Universe is a world of myth and mystery.

According to a teaser video seen below, the Dark Universe is said to be an “ominous and chilling experience,” set to celebrate Universal’s proud horror history by reimagining Universal’s classic monsters – conceptual renderings of Frankenstein’s monster, the Wolf Man and Dracula himself are all seen in the clip, with fancy new styles.

Guests will also be able to explore a whole new range of dining, shopping and entertainment experiences, as well as getting to stay in three new Universal hotels. Here’s concept art of what looks to be a promisingly spooky stay:

While the box office bomb of 2017’s The Mummy saw plans for the Dark Universe shelved, a recent slate of Universal Monster revamps including Renfield, Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and upcoming Wolf Man, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming take on Bride of Frankenstein and, of course, Guillermo del Toro’s highly-ancitipated Frankenstein suggests a Universal Monster renaissance might actually be upon us sooner than we think.

Here’s your first peek at Universal’s Dark Universe: see ya there!
