Exciting news today for fans of the long-running V/H/S franchise: following the apparent success of the latest installment in the series, V/H/S/85, Shudder has announced the next V/H/S is already in the works … and this time, they’re putting a sci-fi spin on the proceedings. The announcement was made this afternoon at the New York Comic Con.
Says Scott Shooman, Head of AMC Networksโ Film Group:
โThe V/H/S franchise has been terrifying and entertaining audiences for over a decade now thanks to the work of some of the genreโs most gifted filmmakers. Following the massive success of V/H/S/85 and its previous installments on Shudder, itโs clear that the filmmaking team wonโt be running out of unique ideas anytime soon. Weโre thrilled that the franchise is going in a bold, new direction that will surprise fans and newcomers alike, and demonstrate the innovative capabilities of sci-fi within the world of V/H/S.โ
Adds V/H/S producer Josh Goldbloom:
โJason Voorhees, Leprechaun, Pinhead, Dracula, even the Amityville Horror house ended up in space, so as we move into our own Part 7 it was only natural that we should too. The sci-fi horror genre provides us an infinite playground of forbidden worlds and dangerous lifeforms, a formula which weโre confident will lead to the biggest, maddest, bloodiest V/H/S ever.โ
The bloodiest V/H/S ever? Shit, yeah, now we’re talking!
As of this writing, there’s nothing further to report on the seventh installment in the V/H/S franchise. We don’t have a title yet, nor do we know which filmmakers will be contributing segments to this particular chapter of the series, but we are obviously very excited to hear that the next V/H/S will be changing up the formula a bit, and if previous franchise entries are anything to go by, we have no doubt that V/H/S 7 will gather a murderer’s row of talent behind the camera(s).
Stay tuned for more on the next V/H/S as further updates become available!
