New York City’s having a pretty chaotic year. As if Ghostface’s rampage wasn’t enough, this summer will see zombies flood the streets of the Big Apple in AMC’s first The Walking Dead spinoff: The Walking Dead: Dead City. Over the weekend, at Anaheim’s Wondercon, AMC revealed that Dead City will premiere on June 18 at 10 pm ET on AMC and AMC+, with subsequent episodes airing at 9:00 p.m. ET.

After The Walking Dead wrapped up its eleven-season run late last year, it was announced that not one, but THREE spin-offs of the popular zombie show would be headed our way, joining the three spin-offs that already exist. The upcoming series’ will focus on some of the original run’s most popular characters, including Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon, Rick and Michonne (Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira) and the six-episode Dead City following:

Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.

Eli Jornรฉ (The Walking Dead) serves as showrunner on Dead City, with Cohan also taking on an executive producer role. Alongside herself and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Dead City also stars Gaius Charles, ลฝeljko Ivanek and Michael Anthony.

In a previous statement, Scott Gimple (who served as showrunner for The Walking Dead across some of its most pivotal seasons) had this to say about Dead City:

“Eli has created a chaotic, beautiful, grimy madhouse of the dead for Negan, Maggie, and fans of the show eager to discover an unseen and insane world of theย TWDย Universe […] Lauren and Jeffrey have always been fantastic collaborators and now, we bring that collaboration to the next level with a series that will take these characters to their limits with the world โ€” and each other. All of us are thrilled to take you on an all new, all differentย TWDย epic for the ages.”ย

The promo teaser for Dead City (seen below) certainly looks like it’ll deliver on the zombie goodness we’ve come to know and love from the series, teasing what looks like some new and gnarly creature design and – as Negan quips – walkers falling from the sky. Check it out and get ready for more walker action coming in a few months!
