Not content with just dominating the streaming landscape of 2023, Netflix’s and Tim Burton’s Jenna Ortega-starringWednesday is reportedly eyeing a spin-off focusing on everyone’s favorite creepy uncle, Fred Armisen’s Uncle Fester.

The full quote, from Bloomberg, reminds us to be cautiously optimistic as with any unconfirmed media news, but sheds a little more light on the reported spin-off:

Before production begins on the second season, the company has also started talking about another Addams Family program, one built around Uncle Fester, played on the series by Fred Armisen. As with any TV show in development, there is no guarantee the Uncle Fester show will ever happen. The writers have to figure out the story, the company needs to negotiate contracts with talent, and the schedules of the individuals must align. But Netflix is eager to establish a pipeline of Addams Family programs to build off the success of Wednesday.

A pipeline of Addams Family shows, eh? There’s definitely enough material there and an excellent cast, including Luis Guzmรกn, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Gwendoline Christie, to move forward with. Admittedly, we haven’t seen a whole lot of Fester just yet (he features only in season 1, episode 7, If You Donโ€™t Woe Me By Now) so there’s a lot to explore there for a full season, and the hilarious Armisen certainly has the juice.

Wednesday‘s second season is due to start filming in April of next year, with production moving to Ireland. We’ll keep you updated on any Fester news as and when we get it!
