According to a new report over at Deadline, the good folks at Lionsgate have picked up a new horror film by the name of The Home, starring former Bodies Bodies Bodies star Pete Davidson. The film, directed by James DeMonaco, recently screened out of competition at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Deadline describes the film thusly:
“Best known for helming the blockbuster franchiseย The Purge, DeMonaco here gives the haunted house treatment to a retirement home whose residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets. Davidson stars as Max, a former foster child who begins working at the home, and uncovers connections to his own past and upbringing as a foster child.”
Y’know what? Not a bad idea for a horror movie. Retirement homes are, in this writer’s humble opinion, inherently spooky places, nevermind retirement homes where the residents and staff are harboring sinister secrets.
Says Charlotte Koh, Lionsgate’s EVP of Acquisitions and Co-Productions:
โWe went intoย The Homeย not knowing what to expect and James and Pete delivered anย exhilarating ride of a movie that is pure suspense-filled fun and just plain bonkers. Audiences wonโt know what hit them.โ
The Home does not currently have a release date, but Deadline notes that the plan is to get DeMonaco’s film in theaters “in the early part of 2024.” Nothing further to report at this time, but do stay tuned for further updates on Davidson’s latest horror film as they roll in. In the meantime? Call your grandparents.
