What does one even say about Phil Tippett’s Mad God?

It’s one of the most eye-popping movies ever made. It’s a work of pure, uncut creative brilliance. It’s a film that took three decades to complete and, one assumes, probably brought its creator to the brink of madness on more than one occasion (three decades, people). To see Mad God is to know that you are experiencing something truly singular, and who knows? Maybe you’ll even have a few nightmares after seeing it.

Anyway, Mad God landed on Shudder a while back, which means that many of you already know all this. What you might not know is that Tippett’s masterpiece is now officially headed to DVD and Steelbook DVD/Blu-ray next month, just in time to be purchased in bulk and distributed as 2022’s greatest stocking stuffer.

A commentary from Tippett and Guillermo del Toro? If this thing wasn’t already a day-one purchase for you, that oughtta do it. I mean, good lord. I legitimately cannot recall the last time I was so hyped to hear a commentary track. I’m also hyped about that “Influences & Inspirations” featurette – you just know there’s gonna be some unexpected pulls in there.

Mad God hits DVD and Steelbook DVD/Blu-ray on December 6th. You know what to do.
