Radio Silence’s Ready or Not remains one of the best horror films in recent memory. Darkly comic, gloriously violent, and jam-packed with killer performances (particularly from star Samara Weaving), the film even went the extra mile by delivering an ending that many of us simply did not see coming on opening weekend.
So effective was that ending, in fact, that you might have assumed that Ready or Not was a one and done deal, a self-contained story rather than the first chapter in a would-be franchise. Well, about that…
“Jeff Sneider reports on The Insneiderย this week thatย Ready or Not 2ย is in development, with directorย Adam Robitelย (The Taking of Deborah Logan, Insidious: The Last Key, Escape Room, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions) currently in talks to direct the sequel.”
That’s our pals over at Bloody Disgusting revealing that Ready or Not 2 is apparently in the works (we’d quote The Insneider’s report directly were it not behind a paywall), with Escape Room helmer Adam Robitel in talks to direct. But wait! There’s more! Sneider apparently goes on to reveal that Samara Weaving will be returning for Ready or Not 2, in the same role.
We can’t imagine how Weaving will get dragged into another deadly game of cat-and-mouse (note: it would be really funny if the movie opened with her getting married again, only to learn that her new set of in-laws also have their own murder game), but we’re certainly curious to find out.
Nothing further to report on the Ready or Not sequel, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one and will keep you informed as further updates roll in. Stay tuned for those and, in the meantime, consider revisiting Ready or Not if you haven’t watched it in a while. That thing holds up extremely well!
