RESIDENT EVIL 7 director Koshi Nakanishi is back on board for the next instalment.

Capcom’s Koshi Nakanishi (director of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard) has officially confirmed something that’ll please horror gamers across the world – a new Resident Evil is currently in development.

Announcing the news at the Capcom Next event, Nakanishi’s message was clear and to the point:

“We’re making a new Resident Evil.”

This news came alongside the reminder that Resident Evil 7 officially heads to Apple devices tomorrow, meaning you can experience the horrors of the Baker family from the palm of your hand.

It’s no surprise given the gargantuan success of Resident Evil, being the highest-grossing media-spanning horror franchise of all time, that Capcom would want to get another out quick sharp – especially given the hugely positive reception to Biohazard, Resident Evil: Village and the remake series of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4.

So what exactly is next up for Resident Evil fans? Nakanishi’s wording of course suggests an entirely new game, which would be Resident Evil 9, the first new entry since 2021’s Village.

But fans have been clamoring for a remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero for a while now – so it could be possible they’re be next up on the slate for reworking.

Whatever the case, we’re excited – and we’ll bring you any and all news on the new Resident Evil as updates roll in!
