For those who have yet to play Resident Evil Village, or for those who have been looking for a reason to fire that puppy back up, Capcom has some new goods for gamers to enjoy as of today. The Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is now available, and with it, we have some brand new DLC of both the story-focused and multiplayer variety, as well as some other neat additions to the game. Weโ€™ve even got a handy, dandy trailer that helps lay it all out. Letโ€™s take a gander.

The Shadow of Rose DLC is the big draw, especially for those who have already conquered the main game. Nintendo Switch owners will have to wait until December 2 for this DLC, but a lot more Resident Evil is coming for the Switch, so itโ€™s not all bad. The addition serves as an epilogue to the main story from the original game, picking up years later with the character in question. Per Capcom, a synopsis for the new chapter reads as follows:

โ€œSet 16 years after the events of the main story in Resident Evil Village, this new tale focuses on Rosemary โ€œRoseโ€ Winters as she seeks to rid herself of the strange powers that have plagued her throughout her lifetime. Her journey takes her to the Realm of Consciousness, where she just might get what she wantsโ€ฆ assuming sheโ€™s able to survive the experience.โ€

Weโ€™ve also got an update to the arcade-style fun of The Mercenaries in the form of an expansion called The Mercenaries Additional Orders. Plates can fight through waves of enemies with Ethan Winters and three new additional characters: Chris Redfield, Lady Dimitrescu, and Karl Heisenberg. The other big addition to the Resident Evil universe is Resident Evil Re:Verse, which is of particular interest to those who like to game online. This brand-new online multiplayer game sees heroes from the franchise duke it out in six-player matches. Players who are taken out mutate into various monsters from the games, complete with a range of powerful attacks that can be used to exact revenge on their opponents.

One last major addition to the main game is the new third-person mode, which is exactly what it sounds like. Players can now experience Village in the third-person, should they so choose. The nice part is that youโ€™re not married to that perspective the whole way through, as players can switch between third and first-person POV while playing.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is available now for PC and console. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil 4 remake is on deck for release in 2023, so be on the lookout for that as well.
