One of the percolating horror projects we are most interested in here at FANGORIA is writer/director Drew Hancock’s Companion, which has spent the last few weeks assembling its cast. With a logline that’s being kept firmly under wraps and some of the horror genre’s most impressive behind-the-camera talent in the mix, how could we not be?
Well, today brings us another casting announcement, and while it still doesn’t shed light on what the hell Companion is, it will be of interest to anyone who watched and enjoyed Homeland. Take it away, Deadline:
“Rupert Friend has rounded out cast of New Lineโsย Companionย from writer/director Drew Hancock and the filmmaking team behind the breakout horror hitย Barbarian. He joins a cast that already includes Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillรฉn. The film will mark Hancockโs directorial debut from his original screenplay.”
Yes, Homeland star Rupert Friend has joined the already-excellent cast of Hancock’s film (Friend can currently be seen in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, as well as Apple TV+’s limited series High Desert), but because we have no idea who he’ll be playing, there’s not much for us to add here beyond: good hire, Hancock!
When will we get a peek at Companion‘s logline, or maybe some info on who all of the above folks are playing? There’s no telling, but don’t worry: we’re very intrigued by this one, and will be keeping you informed as further updates roll in. Stay tuned for those, folks!
