Russel Crowe is in another exorcism movie, and we are here for it. This time, Crowe plays an actor, playing a priest in a very familiar franchise, as shit begins to go very awry. We were all in based on that alone, but the behind the camera talent on this is equally exciting.
The Exorcism is written and directed by actor-turned-writer-and-director Joshua John Miller. Folks will be familiar with Miller’s work in front of the camera in cult classics Near Dark andย Teen Witch. Miller penned the modern cult classic The Final Girls with co-writer M.A. Fortin. Oh, and did we mention The Exorcism isย produced by Screamโs Kevin Williamson?
If you need more convincing, we have a sneak peek for you below. Something is very, very wrong with Russell Crowe. Take a look for yourselves.
Here’s the official synopsis.
โฆAnthony Miller (Crowe), a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter (Ryan Simpkins,ย Fear Streetย trilogy) wonders if heโs slipping back into his past addictions or if thereโs something more sinister at play.
We’re looking forward to Crowe playing an actor playing an exorcist inย The Exorcism. He’s alsoย reportedly very keen to get back in the saddle as Gabriele Amorth in potentialย Popeโs Exorcistย sequels. Give us all the Father Crowe fare.
Originally titled The Georgetown Project, The Exorcism is in theaters June 7,ย and streaming on Shudder later this year.
