Between The Babysitter, Ready or Not and her upcoming role in Scream 6, Samara Weaving is making quite the name for herself as a Scream Queen – and she’s about to add another horror movie to her fierce filmography.
Deadline revealed yesterday that the Australian actress will star in Azrael, an upcoming action-horror film that’s reportedly being eyed as a franchise. Evan Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Channel Zero) is set to direct from a script by You’re Next’s Simon Barrett.
Nothing much (well, at all) is known about the plot of Azrael as of yet, but it might be interesting to know that the name Azrael features quite regularly throughout some religious scripture, notably as the Angel of Death...
What we do know about Azrael is that filming is set to take place this October in Estonia, with Barrett revealing on Twitter that he, Katz and producer Dan Kagan (Significant Other) have been working in the European country for the last month. Barrett also teases that Azrael will be his last horror project for a while, and that “…we’re putting everything scary we’ve got into this one.”
Sounds like he plans on going out with a bang – and we can’t wait to be scared stiff by it.
