Excited for SAW X? Of course you are, we all are! That includes the good folks over at Alamo Drafthouse and Fantastic Fest, who are giving fans a chance to catch SAW and SAW II again on the big screen in one grisly double feature.
If you’re new to the world of SAW or have been living under a horror-free rock for the last decade, 2004’s SAW follows photographer Adam Stanheight (Leigh Whannell) and oncologist Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom. As the two men realize they’ve been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed Jigsaw (the iconic Tobin Bell) and must complete his perverse puzzle to live. 2005’s SAW II follows a group of ex-convicts trapped by Jigsaw inside a house, who must pass a series of deadly tests to retrieve the antidote for a nerve agent that will kill them in two hours. And thus – one of horror’s most beloved franchises was born!
Fittingly, the upcoming SAW X, which opens in theaters on September 29, is set between the two, with the synopsis reading:
Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists.
