By now, you’ve almost certainly encountered Nicole Kidman’s instantly-iconic ad for AMC theaters. It appears during AMC pre-shows, and finds Kidman waxing poetic about the magic of cinema and the transformative power of the theatrical experience. Once it landed in theaters, the ad quickly became a meme, and in the time since we’ve seen no small number of well-produced remakes and parody versions of the clip…
…But the one put together by the Saw X team might just be the best one yet.
Yes, that’s everyone’s favorite game-playing murder puppet, Jigsaw, delivering a pitch-perfect rendition of Kidman’s famous AMC ad (he even rides his little tricycle up the theater’s stairs!), one that still celebrates the theater-going experience while also adding a horror twist to the proceedings. Marketing movies these days can’t be easy – particularly when you’re tasked with marketing the tenth film in a very long-running franchise – but the folks at Lionsgate crushed this one. Well played, Saw X.
Saw X, by the way, arrives in theaters on September 29th, and brings back both Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith for a twisted tale that takes place between the events depicted in Saw and Saw II. This time around, Jigsaw heads down to Mexico for an experimental medical treatment, only to discover that he’s been scammed by those offering it. You can imagine how that’ll turn out for the scammers.
Stay tuned for more on Saw X as further updates become available.
